Commissions and Studies
Collective Summary
At the end of the day, I like to draw and paint organic forms—figure, landscape, or unspeakable horror. I am often commissioned to draw a character-centric scene, but I will also create fan art for other indie games out of admiration, do art studies to keep up with my craft and tools, and just doodle for fun.
My Roles
Commercially, I am most often a character artist and promotional advert illustrator. Otherwise, I am doing what my heart desires—and my heart is a covetous thing.
I create promotional artwork for clients and personal projects. In every instance, the work has been character-centric, with varying amounts of environmental detail. Of my above examples, I have drawn: (1) my interpretation of the DevTalk mascot, Lemon, for their Discord server banner celebrating the annual visual novel game jam, NaNoRenO, (2) a banner for advertising my in-progress project, The Corpse Lieutenant, and (3) Snowhaven Studio's phantom character Silias, overlooking the viewer from a theater balcony in a print-ready painting for their visual novel, The Last Act.
Promotional Art
Feb 2020 - Jan 2022
If I like a character enough, I'll draw them. If you like a character enough, and you pay me, I'll draw them too. Fan-made works are the ultimate love letter to the original creator, and I delight in bringing joy to small creators and bigger fanbases with my artistic expression. Above, I've chosen fan art of the following: (1) ZA/UM's Disco Elysium, in the inexplicable form of self-portraits painted to imitate the respective characters' in-game portraiture, (2) Jasmine "Katy133" Osler's Dear Devere, and my interpretation of the non-appearing titular character, (3) Pumpkinspike's minor arachnid character from A Bureau of Monsters, (4) a commission of a ghoulish Pokémon Trainer making molten curry for their delighted Eiscue, from Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Fan Art
Apr 2018 - Present
In 2021, I dedicated a lot of time to digitally painting and inking, both to hone my skill in observational drawing and replication, but also in artistic interpretation and to better learn my tools. Each illustration above is based on a photograph: (1) a forest brook, (2) snowy pine trees, (3) clouds recolored to reflect different times of day, and (4) the cairns in Loughcrew, Ireland rendered in a style inspired by Tintin cartoonist Hergé's ligne claire.
